How to Book a Tatkal ticket

Tatkal tickets are a type of train ticket in India that can be booked at short notice for a higher fee than regular tickets. Tatkal tickets can be booked online or at railway reservation counter.it is meant for passengers who need to travel urgently and do not have the time to book tickets in advance.

To book a Tatkal ticket, The following information is necessary:-

1. Timing: Tatkal tickets can be booked one day in advance of the journey date, starting at 10:00 AM for AC classes and 11:00 AM for non-AC classes. For example, if you want to travel on 28th March, the Tatkal booking window will open at 10:00 AM on 27th March.

2. Availability: Tatkal tickets might sell out fast and are subject to availability. As a result, it's best to be prepared to make reservations as soon as the opportunity opens.

3.Fees: Tatkal tickets come with higher fees than regular tickets. The fees vary depending on the class of travel and distance of the journey.

4.Identity proof: You will need to provide a valid ID proof details such as Aadhar card, PAN card, Voter ID, etc., along with the passenger details, while booking a Tatkal ticket, and you will also have to carry the same ID proof while travelling.

5.Cancellation: Tatkal tickets cannot be cancelled, but you can get a refund if the train is delayed by more than three hours or if the train is cancelled.

One of the key features of the Tatkal scheme is that it has a limited number of seats available, which are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. This means that passengers need to be quick in booking their tickets as the availability can be limited, especially during peak travel seasons.

It is important to note that Tatkal tickets are meant for urgent travel and should not be used as a regular mode of booking train tickets.
