WHAT IS TATKAL SCHEME OF IRCTC Indian Railways provides the Tatkal scheme, a service for last-minute train ticket bookings, via the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. It is intended for travelers without a reserved ticket who have last-minute travel needs. A day before to the planned date of travel, reservations for a restricted number of seats in all train classes are accepted under the Tatkal scheme. Reservations for Tatkal tickets in the AC class open at 10:00 AM, while those in the Non-AC class open at 11:00 AM. The Tatkal system has stricter cancellation policies in addition to charging a greater fee than the standard booking fare. If a Tatkal ticket is confirmed, there is no refund unless the train is delayed or cancelled for more than three hours. The cancellation fees are greater. How to check Live Train running status of Indian Railways The National Train Enquiry System allows you to view the current operating status of Indian Railways trains (NTES). How to do it is as follows: 1. Go to  https://enquiry.indianrail.gov.in/mntes/ to access the NTES website. 2. Fill in the "Train Number" field with the train number. 3. From the calendar, choose the departure date. 4. Select "Get Train Running Status" from the menu. As an alternative, you can use the IRCTC website or mobile app to view the current train status in real time: 1. Open the mobile app or log in to your IRCTC account. 2. From the menu, pick the "Train Schedule" option. 3. Choose the date of travel and input the train number. 4.Click on the "Get Running Status" button to view the live status of the train. You can also check the train running status by sending an SMS to 139 with the train number as the message.
